What is Web design in 2012?

What will Calgary web design look like in 2012? While the face of the Web is ever changing, it now also has to contend with desktop, mobile, tablet and netbook environments not to mention how each individual uses each of these tools differently.

Calgary Web Design , the visual aspects of it at least, will undoubtedly see some new styles and trends. The Web often seems to be one big ripple effect for designers and developers. One trend many web designers are talking about is an increase in font replacement software , which will bring new design elements to websites.

Web design teams will need to incorporate HTML5 and CSS3 standards and do their best to see how these standards do across browsers and platforms, not to mention devices. Mobile design is re-teaching us that simpler is (nearly) always better; however, mobile technology will not eliminate its desktop-designed predecessors. But both will have to learn to get along and bridge the gap between these two platforms.

As always, Web designers will continue to form our online world with their design work lasting up to 5 years between website rebuilds. So websites produced in 2012 may well be affecting user habits until 2017. Will “One Web” exist by then?

Looking more directly at Calgary’s energy industry’s Web design in 2012, and by energy I refer to not only Oil & Gas, but also green energy and environmentally-focused answers that will be helping support Calgary, AB’s oil-based industries. Calgary Oil & Gas Web design is primarily sleek and professional, with a corporate look and this will continue to be refined in 2012. A major factor for Calgary Oil and Gas Web designers will be making sure these corporate sites work well across platforms and place well in search engine results.

Speaking of Search Engines, Calgary web designers and web designers in general will need to continue to use analytics and statistics. With the onset of “responsive” Web design last year,   it will be important for web designers to incorporate this new trend, considering the rise in mobile usage.

The main competitors to Search Engines, if there are any, are social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter, Four Square, etc. Out of these entities, Facebook will require the most attention by Web designers, whether they are in Calgary or elsewhere, need to provide web design services that include bringing their clients’ web content seamlessly, and with proper branding to their Facebook fan pages.

In 2012, web design will need to keep tabs on changes to advertising methods and how these affect their typical client site. Users are becoming more adept with Web technologies and their authentic feedback can be a true boon for Web designers who are testing their latest designs across devices and platforms.

To summarize, Calgary Web design will continue to grow in the area of “responsive web design”, with the Calgary Energy web design needing to focus on multiple platforms such as mobile and increase Search Engine rankings,  along with continued debates and progresses between mobile and desktop design and usability, as mobile utilities will increase for native apps and also as creative solutions for larger desktop-based solutions using CSS3 and HTML5.
